In 2003, in an orchard in Lower Sticker, half an acre in size, a fundraising event for Merlin MS Centre, known then as the Merlin Project, took place. It was a small affair with a few craft stalls and a beer tent, which also provided the venue for the evening entertainment, The Bucket Boys.
That initial event, even though small in size, raised £5000 for the charity. The committee declared it a success and decided then to make it an annual event, Sticker Vintage Rally and Country Fayre was born.
The next two years saw the event move into Mr Michael Griggs grain barn and surrounding fields, and then when space required dictated a move to the Sticker AFC Football Club ground and surrounding fields, it has become the home of the event ever since.
With a larger committee and fresh ideas, Sticker Vintage Rally and Country Fayre continues to grow year on year, offering entertainment for all the family.
Dog shows, displays, steam and vintage vehicles, craft stalls, children’s and evening entertainment are integral to the success of this now three day event.
In excess of £100,000 has been raised from the event since its humble beginnings 16 years ago. The Merlin MS Centre charity based at Hewas Water remains the main beneficiary charity, but the event also contributes to other local causes.
2018 was the most successful year to date. A total of £12,200 was distributed between Merlin MS Centre, Sticker Village Association and St Mewan Nursery School. Plans are already underway for 2019 and with your support we hope to raise even more.
